The Mediterranean Design Workshop is a new international design and cultural event that will take place annually on the Greek island of Tinos. It’s organized by design professionals, encouraging a global view on everything design-related, and anything design can find common ground with for a creative intercourse.

The AGI Open conference will take place on the 11th of October at Casa da Música, in Porto. Under the theme “Process is the project”, this event aims to contribute to the reflection and debate about the creative processes on design.

Ten Images for Ithaca offer to design students and young professionals the opportunity to spend a week, this July, on the island of Ithaca, focusing on design and the creative process through two workshops led by British typographer and educator Phil Baines and the creative directors of the Athens based agency “pi6 communication design”.

The 2010 edition of the ED-Festival will take place in Rotterdam from 27th to 30th May. For the fourth consecutive year, ED-Festival brings to life a unique event presenting the best communication design in Europe. Typo Magazine is a proud partner of the ED-Festival.

Inside you will find an article about Jiří Rathouský from our series mapping out the lives and oeuvres of prominent 20th century Czech graphic designers, accompanies by an as yet unpublished final interview Rathouský gave shortly before he passed away in 2003.

The next edition of The International Typography Workshops is devoted to dynamic graphic design and kinetic typography, associated most of all with the on-screen edition and electronic media. Two-weeks classes (in English) are conducted by Dan Boyarski from Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh and Jan Kubasiewicz – MASS ART, in Boston (USA).

The submission period of ED Awards ends on February 15. The European Design Awards is the comprehensive annual awards organization acknowledging the best of graphic design, illustration and multimedia design in Europe. It is based on a collaboration of 14 prestigious communication design magazines in Europe.
